5 Ways to Stay Mindful & Grounded This Holiday Season
The holidays are a fun and exciting time, but they can also be overwhelming. It’s easy to forget about self care when you’re busy attending social functions, shopping and eating lots of sweets. It’s important to stay grounded and mindful during this time of year.
Remember, even during the season of giving you need to think about you, too! Let’s look at 5 ways to stay mindful & grounded during the holiday season.
1: Create a Tea Ritual
There’s nothing better than a warm cup of tea on a chilly winter afternoon. Not only is it tasty, but tea is full of antioxidants to give your health a boost. Take some time for yourself and practice mindfulness with a tea ritual.
A tea ritual can be whatever you want it to be. Choose a cozy spot just for you, your favorite mug and get to brewing. Make sure you have time to sit and enjoy this cup, and incorporate it into your daily routine.

2: Try Mindful Eating
The holidays are a time for parties and lots of delicious food. The problem is that holiday food isn’t always the healthiest. It’s easy to stuff cookies into your mouth without thinking twice. Mindful eating is a great way to slow down to appreciate and enjoy what you’re eating.
3: Hop on the Mat for Restorative Yoga
When it’s chilly out, the last thing we want to do is exercise. Yoga can be a great winter alternative that gets you up and moving without having to be outside. Restorative yoga is a low impact way to stay on the mat and keep practicing.
Restorative yoga focuses on asanas and long stretches that’s known to reduce stress. Getting on the mat and taking time for yourself will help keep you grounded during the busy holidays. Restorative yoga doesn’t have to be a long practice. Even taking ten minutes for yourself every morning should help keep you grounded.

4: Take a Walk
Fresh air is good for you even when it’s cold out. During the winter, we should be slowing down and taking time to appreciate everything around us. We spent most of our time indoors, which can make you start feeling stir crazy.
So, make time for a mindfulness walk! Find a nature preserve, or another peaceful place and spend some time with the trees.
5: Refresh Your Daily Routine
If you’re going to parties and participating in many holiday activities, your routine can fall to the wayside. It’s important to keep a routine and have a sense of stability. Make sure you are practicing good sleep hygiene and getting enough rest, as well.

6: Practice Journaling
Putting pen to paper is another way to reflect and stay mindful during the holidays. Write down what you’re grateful for, what’s stressing you out, even your holiday plans. The physical act of writing down your thoughts gets them out of your head and you’ll be able to process them better.
We wish you a wonderful holiday season!
